Holt: Wrexham
Consultation
Welcome
Thank you for taking the time to visit this site regarding this local housing development for Holt.
We want to work with the local community to develop our plans and want to hear your views on the initial proposals. What do you think of the draft illustrative masterplan? What do you like about the plans? How can the plans be improved? What issues do you think need to be considered? What type of homes are needed? What would you like to see included within the scheme?
Housing Need
The UK is facing a housing crisis, with a chronic shortage of new homes and insufficient homes are being built and supply/delivery is falling short of Government targets. Recent research also suggests that the average first time-buyer is now 34 years old – an increase of two years during the pandemic.
New homes can deliver economic benefits for local businesses by new residents spending in local shops and using local services in the areas where new homes are built.
Wrexham needs new homes. As part of its emerging Local Development Plan, which guides future development in the Borough to 2028, the Council has outlined a requirement for some 8,000 new homes across the Borough and this site has already been identified in their plan as being able to provide housing for local people in Holt.
The Local Development Plan is expected to be adopted this year and new homes in Holt will help the Council to meet its housing needs target.
We believe this site is the right site for Holt and that the applicant’s investment in the design and technical material in addressing site considerations provides for a high-quality site solution, but we want to ensure it is the right type of development, delivered in the right way and offering the right benefits for the local community.
Our Plans
The Pridding Farming Partnership is bringing forward plans to deliver the Holt housing allocation site for 39 new high-quality homes on land off Wrexham Road, Holt, LL13 9YU.
The scheme will deliver a mix of housing types including affordable housing. The scheme will also deliver pedestrian linkages to public open space, biodiversity neg gain and greenspace.
A sustainable location
The site is located off Wrexham Road directly opposite the Bellis Farm Shop and, with direct and safe pedestrian links to the Holt Primary School is in an ideal and highly sustainable location, being within close proximity to this and other local services and facilities.
Delivering much-needed new affordable homes in Holt this will allow local people to stay within their community.
